New Year’s Wishes

I heard a bird sing

   In the dark of December

A magical thing

   And sweet to remember

‘We are closer to Spring

   Than we were in September!’

I heard a bird sing

   In the dark of December

Oliver Herford (1863-1935)

The dark of the old year is now behind us. Wishing everyone a bright and glorious New Year!

  1. The chickadee is beautiful and so is your poetry selection. It has been unseasonably warm yesterday and today but all that is over tomorrow…. well, I guess later today since it is 2;15 am. I was glad to see your post and photos from Bill Todd when I got up about an hour ago. Lots of folks awake on fB because of the late football games. Guess I have company. There was a note from Janis, too. Something besides football keeping folks up.

Take care, keep the pictures coming. I loved the snow drifts best until I saw my favorite winter visitor. Great shot, whoever made it.

    Sleep well

  2. That’s my picture, and he’s my little buddy that will eat out of the feed-pan while I’m still holding it. Not fond of having his picture taken. I have about 20 rejects…

And, um… You DO remember that it’s TONIGHT that you’re supposed to be up all night, right? Just checking… 😉

  3. Yes, except that it was last night when I could not sleep. Beth was on line, too. I set an alarm because I have to get ready for the group coming for lunch tomorrow. So, I’m chipper this morning….ah, almost noon!!!
