Apples, Apples Everywhere…

Still working through all those apples…

So far, they’ve been turned into 8 half-pint jars of applesauce, a topping for a foccaia – recipe on Monday, I have to make it again – an oven roasted winter squash and sausage dish, and a few dozen healthy snacks…

And there are still plenty more!

What’s the surest sign that the season has really turned?

The tomatoes have been replaced…

I’ll be back on Monday!

  1. The photo of the apples on the window sill with the cleared garden bed in the background speaks volumes. “Fall is here!” I hope the sure signs of Winter are a long way off. And don’t work so hard!

    • From your lips to God’s ears on that winter stuff… I’m wishing for one of those 80’s sitcom type winters, where it only snows for the Christmas Episode…

I can’t *really* claim to be working that hard…there are some off-farm activities that pulled me away this week, and a bunch of contractors to babysit while they (slowly) renovate my laundry room…

  2. i was about to write that i loved that shot too! And I am still doing tomatoes, buckets of them still coming in.. will it every STOP! no apples for me though. My trees are too small. Next year we might have a small crop though i cannot see them getting past Johns lunchbox..! c

    • I lost all *my* apples to the storm, and had to drive quite a ways to get these. They’re good, even if they didn’t come off of my trees. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your little trees start producing! Here’s to next year!
