Wildlife Wednesday: Neighbors

Any day now, they’ll be ready to fly!

Both stationary cameras were a complete bust this week….

  1. The last brood for this Summer, presumably. Judging by their location, are these swallows? When I was in Michigan last, there was a birdhouse right outside my bedroom window with a robin an her nestlings. She and her mate sure did keep busy, their comings and goings announced by the peeps. There are far worse ways to wake up in the morning. Sorry the wildlife didn’t show up for you this week. Maybe, like the French, they’ve headed to the shore for a vacation. 🙂

  2. Who said heading to the shore for a vacation.. are we going somewhere.. that is a gorgeous nest, i always marvel that they can even stay IN the nest when they are all that big! c

    • I thought I was going to get a good one of them popping up when Mama came by with a tasty bug, but she took one look at me and said something that must translate as “Get Down, NOW!” to them, and they all huddled back.

  3. The baby birds, almost NOT babies, are adorable. The used to build on the wall next to the side walk at Geronimo Road school. The custodian would block the walk with traffic cones and make people walk around the nest area. Thanks for the photo.

  4. They will definitely be flying soon. Your posts aren’t showing up on my reader…I’m wondering if anyone else is having this problem. This was the third I have missed.
