A Blue Ribbon Day (And A Red One, Too!)

There’s nothing like a good, old-fashioned fair…

A chance to make new friends,

Learn to be brave,

Or Ooohย and Ahh over the fruits of someone else’s labor.

(No. I will not be entering this category. Ever.)

We weren’t just spectators at this year’s fair…

Sarah the Butterfly won a second-place ribbon for her apple pie, with her first-ever entry.

Uncle Joey baked a batch of muffins to enter in the Men’s Baking category, but when we looked for them on the table…

They were nowhere to be found.

At least, not on THAT table.

We found them in the Muffin catagory…with a BLUE ribbon hanging from the plate. First time he’d ever baked. I kid you not…

Way to go, both of you!

And no visit to the fair would be complete without a ride, would it?

I think she enjoyed it…

  1. First time entry & baker and they both win ribbons? Tell them to retire from competitions now! Best to go out on a high note. ๐Ÿ™‚
Looks like you and your family had a wonderful time, Marie. Now that’s the way to spend a holiday weekend. Good for you all.

  2. The pictures are wonderful. Both kids seem to have a good time. I especially love Angel and the merry go round!! I have to ask….. one wagon or two? Since Angel has her own, I’m wondering if you “had” to take it? Have a good week.

    • Growing giant pumpkins is an obsession with some folks around here…we’ve had world’s record holders from very nearby.
Me? I have better way to use my time than to lavish attention on an enormous gourd. You can’t do much with them after you’ve gown them.I’ll just make impressed noises at the ones other people grow ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Congratulations! County fairs are such fun, aren’t they? Wonderful series of images. They made me smile (which isn’t easy to do today because I’m an old grump being melodramatic about the heat and humidity now that our a/c died). ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. What you call Fairs, we call Shows, and the biggest one is about to open here, the Melbourne Show. I can still remember dressing up as a kid to go to our local ones, they were a big highlight of the year. So much fun. Toffee Apples, Kewpie Dolls on sticks, all sorts of thing. Ahh the memories, thanks for that. ๐Ÿ™‚ It certainly looks like you all had a great time.

  5. How fabulous to have these champion bakers joining in your tradition of culinary excellence!!! And what a spectacular and sweet photo of Angel Face on horseback. Ooh, just made me think of Angels on Horseback. Leave it to me to find a food analogy in everything. ๐Ÿ™‚
