I’ve been trying for years to get shots like these…
We live in a beautiful part of the country. The Atlantic Ocean is at our doorstep, and we’re surrounded by woodlands and rolling farmland. This time of year, people are flocking from Elsewhere to see for themselves the glory of the Fall Foliage.
We’re not known for our sunsets, though.
Every now and then, we get a special treat…
Tuesday night, as the kiddoes played Dance Party in the living room and I puttered around the kitchen getting dinner together, the sky began to catch fire. For once, the camera was close-at-hand.
I slipped out onto the back steps and carefully steadied the camera – no time to find the tripod, it was already fading.
The music in the living room stopped, and the sound of small feet approached the door.
“What’re you doing, Grandmom?”
First one, and then the other joined me one the step, one on either side. We watched together as the sky went from Flame, to Pumpkin, then faded to the Midnight Blue of early evening.
It was a good day.
