Naughty, or Nice?

We’ve all had Those Days, haven’t we?

Days where we’re sitting at our desks typing, having a nice conversation with another Adult, when, out of the blue, we’re interrupted by a Naked Child dashing down the hall, swinging his pants over his head like a lasso…

Who, ME?

No? I’m the only one?

Ok. If you say so…

It’s been All Kinds of Crazy around here this week, so I was just THRILLED when our Elves showed up.

Umi and Boingy make their entrance

Meet Umi and Boingy, the Scout Elves assigned to Niko and Angel.

Yay! Reinforcements! “The elves can see you, kids! You don’t want them to give Santa a Bad Report tonight when they fly back, do you?”

It kinda’ works, too. I have found them sitting near the elves and sharing an apple. They’ve walked past them (repeatedly) holding hands. They stand where the elves can see them and HUG… Niko even went to tell Umi that he was “Sorry he made Grandmom crazy” last night, after a particularly difficult dinner.

I’m hopeful…

Now, I’ve heard stories and seen pictures of the kind of shenanigans some other Scout Elves have gotten up-to. It’s a relief to know that OUR elves aren’t like that. They just sit in a new spot each morning, smiling their secret smiles, and report back to the Big Guy every night…I have enough on my plate without a couple of rowdy elves making more trouble….

Caught in the cookie jar!

Uh-oh. Spoke too soon…

  2. A fantastic way to remind the two naughty monkeys that PRESENTS are at stake whilst Grandmom perhaps can take her eyes off them for a moment at this hugely busy time of year πŸ™‚ !! Great imagination!!

  3. I never had elves! What a fantastic idea. Love the hugging!! Poor grandmom, naked boys eh! hopefully they were his own underwear, I knew a certain little boy who was always stealing his dads underwear and wearing them on his head.. c

    • All his own, thank goodness. His explanation for being naked? “We’re having a Pool Party!”
They had unrolled the blue yoga mat in another room, and were ‘swimming’ on it. Angel was still dressed, but Niko was skinny-dipping πŸ˜€

  4. When my daughter had her first sleep over at age 8 my son was all excited (he was 5). When the girls went to change into pjs he went flying down the hall with his pjs over his head calling out wait for me! I had to grab him and explain that a bunch of girls would not be appreciative of him joining them. πŸ™‚

  5. I don’t know what harried parent first thought of the Elf on the Shelf but parents everywhere owe her/him a debt of gratitude. Love that your two are, in effect, putting on a show for their elves. Enjoy it while it lasts, Marie.

  6. Thank heavens you arrived in time! Who knows how long she would have kept him trapped in that cookie jar? Not to mention the lid mark on his little b-t-m.
